Overview

Corscombe

Corscombe is the new OO gauge layout of the East Grinstead Model Railway Club under construction with the support of Harrison-Brown Models and is a fictional station based in the late 1950’s/early 1960’s & located 5 ½ miles North East of Okehampton.

Corscombe uses modellers license to say that the former London & South Western Railway (LSWR) main line, which passes nearby in reality, was laid closer to this hamlet with a station provided to serve the number of farms in the vicinity & being not too far from Meldon Quarry a similar, yet smaller, fictional quarry has also been established nearby.

Due to the station serving several farms a dairy complex has grown beside the station over the years which adds more operational interest.

This new layout is planned to be continuous run with trains entering under the road bridge over the station platforms on the left and exiting through a tunnel on the right & vice-versa. An extension to make the layout larger for bigger venues is also planned which will see a quarry line coming under the main running lines to the right and raising up to link with the transfer sidings for the dairy.

The layout is intending to be DCC controlled and utilising code 75 track with electrofrog points.

If you have been interested in, or thinking about, becoming a member of the East Grinstead Model Railway Club then this is a great time to come along & check out a club meet or two.
